  • What is Coaching?
According to the International Coach Federation, Coaching is as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. In my own view, Coaching is the process through which the Coach is a Strategic Partner for the Client, enabling the latter to explore goals & options, strenghts & weaknesses, tools & barriers. This exploration journey enables the Client to define action steps & accountability plans in order to achieve goals and move forward.
  • What is the difference between Coaching, Training and Mentoring?"
In my view, training implies a specific set of steps to be followed, a specific methodology to set in place by the trainer towards the trainee via which the trainer shows the trainee how to do that task or activity, what is needed to do it and how to reach the final goal. It can support learning paths and skills development on a given skill or profile, and it can be complementary to other people development solutions. On the other hand, in my view, mentoring is a professional relationship in which an experienced individual (Mentor) assists another (Mentoree) in developing specific skills and knowledge that will enhance the less-experienced person’s professional and personal growth. It is a one-to-one journey with dedicated support and supported focus. Coaching does not transform the coach into the actor of the coachee's development or self-awareness journey, it does not set limits or rules for the different steps to take, and it does not put the coach in the coachee’s shoes to give the solution to the issue / situation / etc. Coaching revolves around the following main principles: It allows the client to be self-aware It enables forward thinking and helps the coachee focus on his or her own goals It follows the principle of full goal ownership and coachee empowerment It helps the coachee identify, set straight and prioritize his or her needs and goals It helps the coachee turn his or her goals into achievements and to unlock their inner potential for success.
